Sports

The 2026 Canadian Transplant Games offer participants the opportunity to participate in up to 5 sports events. Take a look at the sports listed below to learn more about what’s involved and who is eligible to participate. If you have questions after reviewing all the information including the FAQs, please email us.

The Schedule will be shared in the spring of 2026.

Note: Due to venue and schedule capacity, not all sports are available to all participant categories and age groups. Please review equipment requirements where applicable (you are always welcome to bring your own even if the event includes equipment).

Cycling - 5km Time Trial

Race against the clock as you enjoy this 5km course through the streets and pathways of Sherbrooke.

Who is eligible: All adult participants, youth participants ages 15 - 17

Equipment: Bike and helmet rentals are available at an additional cost.

Note: Helmets are mandatory

Cycling - 20km

Challenge yourself with this 20km road race course.

Who is eligible: All adult participants, youth participants ages 15 - 17

Equipment: Bike and helmet rentals are available at an additional cost.

Note: Helmets are mandatory

Running - 1km & 5km road race

The road race run is perfect for most fitness and running skill levels. Enjoy the scenery as you challenge yourself to complete the race.

Who is eligible:

  • 1km: All youth participants

  • 5km: All adult participants

Pickleball

This event will serve up a chance to compete in one of the faster growing sports in North America. Games will be played in a doubles format.

Who is eligible: All adult recipients

Equipment: Participants must bring their own pickleball paddles

Triathlon (Sprint)

A sprint triathlon is a shorter distance triathlon that includes a back-to-back 20km cycling route, a 5km outdoor run and a 500m free swim (pool). However, depending on the Games Local Committee, the sprint may be a Virtual calculated event, based off the best calculated times from three combined events, (cycling, swimming and running).

Who is eligible: All adult participants

Equipment: Bike and helmet rentals are available at an additional cost.

Note: Helmets are mandatory for cycling.

Bowling - 5 & 10 Pin

A unique to Canada bowling variant, this sport is right up everyone’s alley! Athletes will compete to bowl their competition over.

Who is eligible: 5Pin -All youth participants, 10Pin - adult recipients

Equipment: Shoe rentals included in registration fee

Badminton

Show your stuff as you compete in this racket sport that originated over 2000 years ago!

Who is eligible:

  • Singles: Adult recipients, Youth 15-17 recipients

  • Doubles: Adult recipients

Equipment: Participants must bring their own rackets

Petanque

A boules sport, Petanque points are scored by having one or more of your metal boules closer to the target than those of your opponent, after all boules have been thrown.

Who is eligible: All participants 12+

Equipment: Included in registration fees

Swimming

Make a splash and compete in one or more of the Canadian Transplant Game’s swimming events.

Who is eligible:

Youth

  • 25M freestyle: All youth ages 4-11

  • 25M backstroke: All youth ages 8-11

  • 4 x 25m free relay: All youth ages 4-11

  • 50M freestyle: All youth ages 12-17

  • 50M backstroke: All youth ages 12-17

  • 50M breaststroke: All youth ages 12-17

  • 50m Butterfly: All youth 12-17

  • 4 x 50 free relay: All youth ages 12-17

Adult

  • 50M freestyle: All adult participants

  • 50M backstroke: All adult recipients

  • 50M breaststroke: All adult participants

  • 50M butterfly: All adult recipients

  • 100M freestyle: All adult participants

  • 100M backstroke: All adult recipients

  • 100M breaststroke: All adult recipients

  • 200M freestyle: All adult recipients

  • 400M freestyle: All adult recipients

  • 200M individual medley: All adult recipients

  • 4 x 50M freestyle relay: All adult participants

  • 4 x 50M relay medley: All adult recipients

Tennis

Compete against other tennis lovers, This event is sure to serve a great time to all participants. Singles format.

Who is eligible: All youth participants ages 12-17, all adult participants

Equipment: Participants must bring their own rackets

Track and Field

A Canadian Transplant Games staple, the Track and Field event is a day-long series of various running, race walking and field sport competitions.

Who is eligible:

Track

  • 25M run: All youth ages 5 and under

  • 50M run: All youth ages 6-11

  • 100M run*: All youth ages 12-17, all adult participants

  • 200M run: All youth ages 15-17, all adult recipients

  • 400M run: All adult recipients

  • 800M run: All adult recipients

  • 1500M run: All adult participants

  • 3000M race walk: All female adult participants

  • 5000M race walk: All male adult participants

Field

  • Long jump: All recipients

  • High jump: All youth recipients ages 15-17, all adult recipients

  • Ball throw: All youth recipients, all adult recipients

  • Javelin: All adult recipients

  • Shotput: All adult recipients

*heats will be organized by age and participant category

All adult participants = recipients, donors, donor family members, supporters who are 18+

All youth participants = recipients, donors, donor family members, supporters who are 17 and under

Adult recipients = recipients 18+ who have received transplants

Youth recipients = recipients 17 and under who have received transplants

Everyone = all categories and ages
