Accommodations at the Canadian Transplant Games in Vancouver will be in the Orchard Commons on the picturesque UBC campus, surrounded by forests and breathtaking ocean views. This is one of the newest residences at UBC. The building features stunning architecture and design, a LEED Gold certificate, dining facilities as well as interconnected floor lounges with snack kitchens and wonderful mountain and ocean views.
YOUR ACCOMMODATIONS INCLUDE LINENS AND TOWELS. But rooms will not have hair dryers, alarm clocks or irons. You can borrow these items from the front desk, which is open 24/7. Please also bring soap and shampoo.
Rooms contain one single bed, connected by a bathroom shared between two rooms. Furnishings include: adjustable height twin XL bed, desk, chair, desk lamp, wardrobe, bookshelf and closet. There is wifi available but can be very spotty depending on your location. The CTA recommends you check with your wireless provider on a roaming package instead of relying on UBC wifi.
FOR FAMILIES: The LOC has secured a limited number of family-style suites in Ponderosa Commons, less than 400 metres from Orchard Commons. These suites have four single bedrooms with a living room, kitchen and two bathrooms. Maximum occupancy is four people (children ages four and up count towards maximum occupancy). There is a surcharge for these suites. Please see registration page for details. All provided meals are at Orchard Commons.
There is plenty to see right on campus! Gardens decorate the vicinity including the notable Nitobe Memorial Garden which is considered to be one of the top five Japanese Gardens located outside of Japan. This campus is also home to the UBC Botanical Garden, where you can explore plants from all over the world in this quiet place of beauty. Another incredible facility is the Beaty Biodiversity Museum which contains Canada’s largest blue whale skeleton! Click Here for more amenities on campus.
